Frequently Asked Questions On How To Prepare Your Artwork

Art Preparation

If you are preparing your own artwork and want to avoid art charges, you must supply it in the following manner.

For art supplied on disk or via e-mail:  We are entirely Macintosh-based (although we can usually open PC files created in FreeHand, Illustrator and PhotoShop).  MacroMedia FreeHand & Adobe Illustrator (or a compatible editable EPS) are the preferred programs.  All fonts should either be included or converted to outlines within the file. We will accept Adobe PhotoShop files provided that they are in TIFF or EPS format, NO JPEGs OR GIFs please.  Black & white PhotoShop files should be at least 400 - 600 lpi at actual size.  Colorized PhotoShop files should be 300 - 600 lpi at actual size and can only be used for 4-color process and simulated process jobs.  Quark files are a last resort and can only be accepted if they are at actual size.  NO WORD, POWERPOINT OR EXCEL FILES please.  You can e-mail your file(s) to us at chilly@shore.net (AOL users can use chillbear1@aol.com) or provide us with a floppy disk, CD-Rom or a zip disk (preferably in Macintosh format).

If you need to supply “camera-ready” or scannable art:  There will be a scan charge applied to your bill.  Artwork must be crisp, black & white, separated, and no larger than 11” x 17”.  Please do not colorize the original art. You may supply a colorized copy of the art as a reference.

If you should require any further information, our art staff is available for technical consultation by appointment only.

Fees are available from anyone in our sales department.
